1876年、メジャーリーガーとしても活躍したアルバート・グッドウィル・スポルディングが設立した"A.G.スポルディング&ブロス"。ウール製のスウェットが主流だった当時、どこよりもはやくコットン製のスウェットを製作し、1900年代初頭から半ばにかけてアメリカスポーツシーンを牽引。その高い機能性とデザイン性は、タイムレスな魅力に満ち溢れ、ヴィンテージマーケットを中心に人気を集めてきました。

そんなヘリテージブランドが2018年に待望の復活。SOPH.の旗艦店である「SOPH.TOKYO」の21周年の記念すべき節目に初のコラボレーションが実現しました。

SOPH.のフィロソフィー (=SOPHISTICATED)を日本語で表現した"粋"というワードがポイントになったスウェットは、クルーネックとタートルネックの2タイプを展開。

どちらも日本に現存する数少ない貴重な吊り編み機でふっくらと仕上げた裏毛コットンを使用。肩線はゆるやかに落とし、腕まわり、胴回りにはゆとりを持たせ現代的なスペックにアジャストすることで程よいヌケ感を表現。身頃の両面V字ガゼットや袖口のV字長リブなど、ヴィンテージライクなディテールにも注目です。

SOPH.TOKYOオープン21周年の11月2日(月)より、SOPH.TOKYOをはじめ、国内外SOPH.shop、同日正午よりSOPH. ONLINE STOREにて発売。

A.G.SPALDING & BROS. "was established in 1876 by Albert Goodwill Spalding who was also active as a major leaguer. When wool sweats were the mainstream, they made cotton sweats earlier than anyone else, and led the American sports scene from the beginning to the middle of the 1900's. Its high functionality and design are full of timeless charm, and it has become popular mainly in vintage markets.

This heritage brand will make a long-awaited comeback in 2018. The first collaboration was made to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the flagship store "SOPH.TOKYO".

This sweat shirt is accentuated by the word which is an expression of the SOPH.'s philosophy "SOPHISTICATED(=粋)" in Japanese. It is available in 2 types, crewneck and turtle neck.

Both are made of fluffy fleece lining cotton using a rare and valuable loopwheel in Japan. The shoulder line is gently lowered, and the arms and waist are made loose, and the modern specifications are adjusted to create a moderate look. The vintage-like details such as the V-shaped gusset on both sides of the body and the V-shaped long rib on the cuffs are also notable.
